Dr. Dan Graur is the John and Rebecca Moores Professor in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston. He got his Ph.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Much of his postdoctoral work has been funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. His research focuses on the evolution of genes, proteins, and genomes. Dan Graur has published four books and more than 150 research articles, reviews, book chapters, and commentaries.
Dan Graur is an indiscriminate aficionado of musical theatre and an art collector, with special emphasis on contemporary conceptual art. His collection of art by UH students and alumni is most probably the biggest in the world.
