Janet Biggs Catalogs Have Arrived!
Our recent exhibition Janet Biggs: Echo of the Unknown resonated deeply with both new and longtime Blaffer visitors. Seeing an artist grapple publicly with the complex and personal experience of trying to understand what it means to become subject to a disease such as Alzheimer’s — and to articulate that visually, sonically, and spatially — gave occasion to an extensive line-up of public programming revolving around artistic, medical, legal and ethical questions and made apparent how widespread this experience is.
Now we’re excited to announce that the exhibition catalog has arrived. This beautifully designed and illustrated book includes a forward by Blaffer director and chief curator Claudia Schmuckli and essays by exhibition curator Janet Phelps and contributors Barbara Polla and Jean-Philippe Rossignol. Copies will be available at Blaffer’s front desk for $35 when we reopen Friday, April 24 for the UH School of Art Annual Student Exhibition. Blaffer members get a 10 percent discount; join today!
