Tea for Free

UPDATE (April 7, 2016): Although the Slavs and Tatars exhibition has closed, and our café is no longer pink, we’re redeploying the samovar for visitors’ enjoyment during future exhibitions. Stop by and help yourself to tea — for free — next time you visit one of our shows!

Isn’t Blaffer’s café pretty in pink? The art collective Slavs and Tatars have turned it into a self-service tearoom for the duration of Mirrors for Princes, their new exhibition on the museum’s first floor, and in keeping with their interest in hospitality and collective reading.

Visitors are invited to help themselves to tea — for free — and to peruse a selection of artists’ books as well as primary and secondary source material from the University library. Stop by and enjoy a cup before or after checking out the exhibition, and feel free to snap and share a pink selfie on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
