Thursday-Sunday, 12:00pm-5:00pm
Monday-Wednesday, Closed

The Blaffer observes the University of Houston holiday schedule and other university closures. Additionally, we are sometimes closed for installation between exhibitions.

Admission is always free.


COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Face Masks

Face masks must be worn at all times by all visitors 2 years and older, and by all staff members; if you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, we are sorry that we are not able to allow you entry to the museum at this time.

Sanitation

Hand sanitizer station is available upon entry, and we encourage you to employ it. Chairs and surfaces will be sanitized on a daily basis.

Social Distancing

Visitor capacity is reduced and controlled according to social distancing; no groups of 7 or more people are allowed. Social distancing is required and will be enforced; parties may remain together; children must stay with adults at all times; please maintain 6 feet of distance from other patrons

No large bags (11"x 15" or greater) are allowed; coat check is not available.

We ask you enter and exit the museum through dedicated doors; only one person is allowed in the elevator at a time.

Visitors showing signs of illness at any time will be asked to return at a later date.

Directions & Parking


Open in Maps

Six free parking spaces are always reserved for museum visitors in Lot 16B directly across the street from the museum entrance. Additional metered parking spaces are available nearby, and complimentary parking via lot attendant is available for large events.

The Blaffer is also an approximately 12-minute walk from the METRO Elgin/Third Ward Purple Line station.

Visitor Tips



Tours & Group Visits


Group tours are not available at this time due to COVID-19. Please check back to learn more about virtual group tour offerings.

Make a guided tour, given by one of our professional docents, a part of your course curriculum or museum visit. Tours can be customized to your interests and are available in multiple languages. Often particular exhibitions lend themselves to a topic you may cover in class; let us help you design a museum-related assignment. Tours are provided to university, school and community groups of ten or more.
