Convergence Research ARTECHOUSE Edition

Date:

Wednesday, March 11, 2026 | 5:30pm

Description:

Join us for an immersive, off-campus edition of Convergence Research at ARTECHOUSE Houston, featuring an evening of performance and participatory exploration. This dynamic event brings together three intriguing works: Audrey Cedor’s Tied to Masks, which traces the evolution of Greek masks from sacred ritual to contemporary horror; Ariel Katz’s Snapshots: Writing about Domestic Photographs, an interactive workshop examining how family images shape memory and meaning; and Maisie Luo’s The Reincarnation of a Dog, a Rhesus Monkey, a Chimpanzee, and Two Mice in Space, a visually inspired meditation on animals lost to space research and reborn through art and Buddhist cosmology. Together, these performances blur the boundaries between theatre, visual art, history, and collective reflection; inviting audiences not just to observe, but to participate.

Location:

What is Convergence Research

Convergence Research is a collaboration between the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts and the Blaffer Art Museum that supports students and faculty in the McGovern College of the Arts to explore connection and collaboration between the disciplines in the arts and beyond. It is a platform for experimentation and research with the goal of providing opportunities to push the boundaries of the artistic disciplines. Convergence Research promotes interdisciplinary inquiry and techniques to stimulate creative process and cultivate works that are performative, temporary and in any stage of process. Curated by Adeniyi Ademoroti.
