The Blaffer observes the University of Houston holiday schedule and other university closures. Additionally, we are sometimes closed for installation between exhibitions.

Admission is always free.

Paid Visitor Parking
Elgin Street Garage (Unvalidated Paid-Hourly parking)
Visitors who would like to park at Elgin Street Garage can do so for a Paid Hourly (un-validated) rate.

General Free Visitor Parking
Lot 16B
Visitors who prefer FREE parking during their visit may use the six free spots available in Lot 16B. If there are no empty spots, visitors must then use the Paid Hourly (un-validated) parking option at Elgin Street Garage.

Visitor Safety Protocols

In compliance with recommended guidelines from the CDC and government officials, visitors are required to follow the below protocols and procedures. The University of Houston requires guests on campus to follow Prevention Protocols which should be reviewed prior to visiting the Blaffer.

Sanitation

Hand sanitizer station is available upon entry, and we encourage you to employ it. Chairs and surfaces will be sanitized on a daily basis.

Social Distancing

Social distancing is encouraged; parties may remain together; children must stay with adults at all times; 6 feet of distance is encouraged from other patrons.

Coat and Bag Check

No large bags (11"x 15" or greater) are allowed; coat check is not available.

Museum Entry and Exit

We ask you enter and exit the museum through dedicated doors; only one person is allowed in the elevator at a time.

Health Precautions

Visitors showing signs of illness at any time will be asked to return at a later date.

Coat and Bag Check

Complimentary bag/coat check is currently unavailable due to COVID-19. Large bags (11 x 15 inches or greater) will not be allowed to enter museum.

Visitor Tips

Visitors are welcome to take personal photographs in the museum without flash, unless otherwise indicated by museum staff or a posted notice. Recording of videos is not allowed unless otherwise specified.

Commercial photography, the use of tripods, selfie sticks, stabilizers and flash photography is not permitted.

Sketching and/or taking notes in museum galleries are encouraged with pencils only. Pens and other media are not allowed for the safety of the artwork.

Tours & Group Visits

To schedule a group visit of 7 or less people, please contact the Blaffer to make an appointment. Docent tours will not be available at this time, but please check our website in the coming weeks future virtual opportunities.

Make a guided tour, given by one of our professional docents, a part of your course curriculum or museum visit. Tours can be customized to your interests and are available in multiple languages. Often particular exhibitions lend themselves to a topic you may cover in class; let us help you design a museum-related assignment. Tours are provided to university, school and community groups of ten or more.
